Boat Tram starts summer service NOW

Muni’s popular Boat Tram 233 from Blackpool England is celebrating its 90th birthday by offering rides along The Embarcadero from the Ferry Building to the Wharf area this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, July 13, 14, 15.

It is then scheduled to run every Sunday through October 13, Fleet Week.

First trip from the Ferry to the Wharf will be about 11:45 Saturday, and about 10:30 Sunday and Monday. Last trip will leave the Ferry Building to go up Market Street and out the J-line to Balboa Park (and its dock at Cameron Beach Yard) at 5:30. You can actually ride the car on its trip home.

All rides are free.

Go to our live streetcar map to see where the Boat Tram is in real time.

The July 13 Saturday service is special: debut day. In future weeks, through October 13), it is scheduled to operate every Sunday unless maintenance is needed. It MAY operate some Mondays as well. When the Boat doesn’t float, there’ll still be great vintage streetcar action on the waterfront, with one of the 1928 “M&M” trams (Melbourne or Milan).

Again, for more information on Muni’s special vintage summer rail service, read their blog post.

Come ride and enjoy! Thanks again to SFMTA/Muni leadership for launching the Boat service again this summer.
