Muni Heritage Weekend: Same Time Next Year!
San Francisco’s two "boat trams," originally from Blackpool, England, pose together for the first time on The Embarcadero during Muni Heritage Weekend. The new acquisition by Market Street Railway, No. 233, made possible by a generous grant from the Thoresen Foundation and a shipping subsidy from FedEx Trade Networks, is to the left, with No. 228 to the right.

Maya Angelou and Market Street Railway
Something about the poet and author Dr. Maya Angelou escaped most people’s attention, until now. She was once employed by our namesake, Market Street Railway Company, Muni’s old competitor, as a streetcar conductor. The first black female conductor in San Francisco history, in fact.

Kudos for the E-line
Looks like the E-Embarcadero streetcar line had a real coming out party this past weekend.
Grand Old Flags…All of Them!
All summer long, the F-line streetcars are bedecked with flags: the American flag over the front door on all cars, and the flag of the city, state, or country they represent on the other side (as shown below with the Minnesota flag above the operator’s window of Twin City Rapid Transit PCC No. 1071).
