Muni’s most popular electric streetcar, an 89-year old Boat Tram from Blackpool, England, will be back on The Embarcadero for an encore at the end of Fleet Week, Saturday-Sunday, October 7-8, 10:15 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
The Boat packed ’em in on both days of Muni Heritage Weekend in late September. People waited up to an hour to cruise up the waterfront (on dry land!) along the F-line. It will repeat the same route on October 7 and 8: From the Ferry Building and our San Francisco Railway Museum to Pier 39, shuttling people to and from the Wharf area and prime viewing spots for the US Navy’s Blue Angels flight team. (Here’s the Fleet Week air show schedule.)
The Boat Tram will pull out of Cameron Beach Yard at 9:20 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday morning. You can board for the ride downtown at any J-line stop between San Jose & Ocean Avenues and Church & Market Streets.
Because the Boat will run Saturday and Sunday, there will be NO vintage streetcar out on The Embarcadero on Monday, though of course, regular F-line service will be operated.
The Blue Angels are the Navy’s flight demonstration team. The Air Force team is the Thunderbirds.
Thanks for the catch. Brain freeze. Fixed.
