Operational. The first No. 9 was built as open car No. 542 by Mahoney Bros., 1887. Converted to standard car 1923 and renumbered 509, rebuilt 1952, retired after accident in 1995. Currently in storage; could possibly be restored as open car.

Operational. When built by Muni in 1963, was first completely new Powell cable car in almost 70 years; only cable car with a plywood roof.

Operational. Original built 1893 by Carter Bros., rebuilt 1954, left service in 1982. Stored at Pier 80 for many years. Current No. 15 is all-new car.

Operational. Built virtually all-new, but incorporating a piece of roof from original No. 16, built by Carter Brothers in 1893. Livery will be adjusted in future repainting to more accurately reflect original.

Operational. Originally No. 532; renumbered to 517 in 1929. Rebuilt 1956.

Operational. Replaced first No. 518 (Carter Brothers, 1893), parts of which were used in building No. 6 in 1965.

Operational. Built virtually all-new, except for some metal work. Replaced car built by Carter Brothers in 1893 as No 519. That car renumbered to No. 500 in 1968 following fatal accident, then renumbered to 19 in 1973 before being scrapped as unsalvagable in 1986.

Operational. Rebuilt 1967. Humphrey Bogart rode this cable car in the 1947 movie "Dark Package."

Operational. Original No. 21 was built in 1887 by Mahoney Brothers, renumbered from 533 to 521 in 1929, rebuilt 1952, scrapped 1987. Current No. 21 built all new in 1992.

Undergoing Restoration. Last car to run on the O'Farrell, Jones & Hyde line, May 1954. First car to run on the reopened California line, December 1957. Currently being rebuilt at Muni carpentry shop.

Operational. Original No. 52 built by John Hammond & Co. in 1906 as No 3. Renumbered and stored in 1957, scrapped 1984 after being determined it was in too poor a condition to restore. Current No. 52 is all new.
